Daniel Lim serves as Senior Litigation Counsel for eDiscovery at the Department of Justice, Civil Division. In this position, he provides legal advice to Civil Division trial teams on the complete lifecycle of electronic discovery issues, including best practices for mobile device collection, social media discovery, and the use of sophisticated technologies in electronic discovery such as predictive coding. Daniel provides training to Civil Division attorneys and staff as well as several federal agencies on electronic discovery issues. He has also advised federal agencies on best practices for implementing defensible litigation hold policies and other electronic discovery best practices. Prior to joining the Civil Division, Daniel served as Deputy Director and Senior Counsel at the E-Discovery Group of the New York City Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel. In that role, he represented the City of New York in civil and criminal matters, providing subject matter expertise on electronic discovery issues. Daniel began his legal career in private practice, representing corporations and individuals in False Claims Act cases and government investigations. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Binghamton University, State University of New York.
