James is a founding partner in Hausfeld’s Washington, DC office. His practice centers on representing plaintiffs in class actions cases involving consumer protection and cybersecurity/privacy (chair of practice group), antitrust, environmental torts, and sports and entertainment law. In addition to practicing law, James has served as a visiting professor at George Washington University Law School. In his consumer and cybersecurity practice, James has served in court appointed leadership capacities in dozens of major class actions recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients. In the antitrust sector, James generally handles direct purchaser class actions alleging price fixing and collusion in various agricultural and food sectors. He presently serves as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section’s Food and Agriculture Committee. Super Lawyers has recognized James as a Top Rated Class Action & Mass Torts Attorney and Who’s Who Legal: Competition named him as one of the country’s leading antitrust practitioners. In 2017, the National Law Journal recognized James as a “Cybersecurity Trailblazer” for his work on behalf of consumer and financial institutions impacted by data breaches.
