Judge Johnston is a district judge for the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, where he handles all dispositive matters in civil and criminal proceedings. Judge Johnston graduated with honors from both The John Marshall Law School (1990) and Rockford College (1987). Following law school, he clerked for Judge Philip G. Reinhard in both the Illinois Appellate Court and U.S. District Court. After his clerkship, he joined the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where he was a unit supervisor. He then entered private practice as a partner at Altheimer & Gray and a senior counsel at Holland + Knight. On April 1, 2008, with Andrew Greene, he co-founded Johnston Greene LLC. Judge Johnston has published dozens of articles, which have been relied on as authority by courts across the country.
